Cat Calming Formula:
Colostrum Calming Complex is isolated from colostrum proteins which have a calming effect on cats. These bioactive proteins have been found to support cognitive functioning and support stress reduction. The Colostrum Calming Complex works synergistically with the L-Theanine in this formula to promote relaxation and cognition.
L-Theanine supports calming and relaxation, reduces irritability and low mood states. L-Theanine has been extensively researched for its ability to help curb destructive behavior. L-Theanine is a naturally occurring amino acid found in green tea that is a derivative of glutamic acid a neurotransmitter in the brain. It helps the body to produce other calming amino acids, such as Dopamine, GABA and Tryptophan and helps bring certain neurotransmitters into better balance. Studies done on L-Theanine showed that cats were calm and relaxed without adverse effects or drowsiness; cats were alert, playful, and calmer than expected, given their situations.
B Vitamins help manage stress and help maintain normal disposition. Thiamine (Vitamin B1) has been shown to affect the central nervous system to help calm and relax anxious animals. Because Thiamine is not stored in the body, increased activity, stress, illness, or increased metabolism deplete its levels in the body. Deficiencies cause mental confusion, muscular weakness, muscle spasms, nervousness, and weight
and appetite loss during periods of stress.

Unfortunately our cat was not inclined to have the treats at all. She usually is not fuzzy about treats, but I could not make her eat a single one of the chews, so if your cat is fuzzy, you don't need to bother with these.

I gave my cats both two before taking them to the vet, and I did notice a little bit of a difference, especially in my male cat. He seemed calmer and less stressed about being at the vet. My other cat generally has a much more relaxed temperament, but she has never liked going to the vet and still growled most of the time. I bought them because I'm going to be moving overseas, and I'm hoping that they at least help out on the flight. We'll see.
