United Airlines requires that your pet be accompanied by a certificate of good health, and that your pet is transported in an approved pet carrier or cargo crate. As of March 3, 2012, United will adopt Continental's PetSafe Program. Pets will no longer be permitted to travel as checked baggage, however, they can travel in the cabin, should they meet requirements, or as cargo.
Your veterinarian will be certifying that your pet is healthy enough to travel and is free of diseases communicable to humans. United Airlines also requires that you provide copies of the veterinary certificates and other documents required by the country to which you are traveling.

During periods of very cold weather, an acclimation certificate may also be required for pets traveling in cargo. On most airlines, pets are not accepted for transport in the cargo section of the airline when the ground temperature is below 45 degrees Fahrenheit (8 degrees Celsius) at any location on the itinerary UNLESS the pet has a veterinarian's statement of low temperature acclimation (Acclimation Certificate). ADD THIS ITEM FOR COLD WEATHER TRAVEL BY SELECTING THE OPTION ABOVE.
