Pet Passport - Acclimation Certificate
An Acclimation Certificate is used to allow airlines to ship dogs and cats when they cannot guarantee compliance with animal welfare regulations. Typically, a veterinarian certifies that the animal being transported is acclimated to temperatures lower than 45 degrees Fahrenheit (7 degrees Celsius).
Federal regulations specify that dogs and cats must not be exposed to ambient temperatures that fall below 45F for more than four consecutive hours while in animal holding areas of airport terminals. The regulations also limit exposure to temperatures lower than 45 degrees Fahrenheit (7 degrees Celsius) to 45 minutes while transferring the animal between the aircraft and the animal holding area.
Many domestic airlines require an Acclimation Certificate during periods of cold weather. Please note that there is not an Acclimation Certificate that will apply to the Summer Heat Embargo. Airlines will not board pets in the cargo hold for departures when the temperature on the runway may be above 84 degrees Fahrenheit (29 degrees Celsius).
Additional forms can be self printed from the Email Attachment option. If ordering additional forms with First Class Mail Delivery Option, forms will receive a 15% discount.
