This package contains information and detailed step by step instructions on importing your dog or cat to the Channel Islands. If your pet is not traveling to the Channel Islands, then you can select the country your pet is traveling to by clicking here to select a pet passport for another country.
Pet Passport Channel Islands
To enter the Channel Islands from a rabies-free country or a rabies-controlled country, your dog, cat or ferret will need an ISO-compliant microchip then vaccinated for rabies (in that order) at least 21 days prior to entry*. If your pet does not have an ISO-compliant microchip implanted, then you can re-microchip your pet or carry your own microchip scanner.
If you or your designated representative is accompanying your pet, then a licensed veterinarian must complete the non-commercial EU health certificate. If your pet is traveling unaccompanied, you will need a commercial EU health certificate. If you are traveling from the US or Canada, the certificate will then be sent to the USDA or CFIA for endorsement. If you are entering the Channel Islands from a different country, the government agency responsible for the import and export of live animals should endorse your form.
Your pet will also need to be treated for Echinococcus (tapeworms) within 1 and 5 days of travel unless entering the Channel Islands directly from Finland, Ireland, Malta, Norway or another country belonging to the United Kingdom.
If you are entering the Channel Islands from a high-rabies country, quarantine can be avoided by having a Blood Titer Test done after rabies vaccination and 90 days prior to entry. You will need to select the option above for additional forms and instructions.
